Trees in urban areas have different needs than trees in a forest. When trees mature they require more care and attention. Trees in urban areas are growing in an unnatural state, they must compete with structures, concrete, other landscape materials, and many suffer from soil compaction.
When trees are not planted properly from their beginning; wires, burlap, plastic containers eventually affect their growth and health. They struggle to grow and require care to help them thrive. Oftentimes when trees are planted their surrounding areas may not have been taken into consideration (swimming pool, decks, sidewalks), because of their extensive root systems they expend a lot energy competing to survive.
